Case Study : North Dublin Living Room
Brief: A new look for the room retaining the plaster panelling and some existing chairs and occasional tables and lamps, mirrors and the fireplace.
As can be seen from the original treatment the room was dark and the bay windows shut off from the room by the dress curtains and overly fussy with the second set of inner functioning curtains.
Linking the twin bays as a pair and giving them a sense of height and breath was foremost in achieving a new and more elegant look.
Inside the bays the south facing windows were screened with Silent Gliss Colorama sun screenblinds. These have the advantage of filtering the sun while allowing the garden to be seen through them. Roman blinds in a silk and viscose weave from Leleivre were used to dress the windows directly in front of the sun blinds.
On the room side elegance and drama were achieved in the a-symmetrical sweep of the single swag, tail, and curtain in a soft tone lime; ivory and primrose silk striped Damask from G P&J Baker. The trimmings are all from Colefax & Fowler
A large two-seater sofa is positioned opposite the bays and upholstered in the same fabric Baker Damask. A fireside rug from JAB was commissioned in specific colours and the carpet is Westex velvet range.
The plaster panelled wall were softened with the use of two toning papers from Ralph Lauren and Colefax and the paint-work is Colortrend.
