Case Study : Master Bedroom, Malahide
Brief: To work with the existing fitted wardrobes and drawer units and create a classsic luxe Master Bedroom.
The somewhat orange nature of the Cherrywood wardrobes necessarily restricted the useable colour spectrum. Classical elements were introduced into the curtain treatment to continue the ambience set with the period wallpaper. The Zoffany Classical Victorian cameo paper softened the entire room setting a warm glow that picks up on the Cherrywood and injects a sense of timelessness. The curtains and bedcover are Indian slub silk.
The Room dimensions and window position required a full height curtain design. As a cornice would have made the room seem smaller the curtain treatment then assumed a more prominent role in bringing in the classical elements. The track is concealed within a silk upholestered soffit and timber moulding with elements of the rope used to highlight the moulding detail. The Goblet pleats are embellished with knotted rope and braid appliquéd to the leading edges.
Mock roman Blinds conceal the height difference between the window head and the ceiling.
The bedspread is diamond quilted and edged with rope and the cushions are all custom made with selected fabrics and trimmings.
The glazed wardrobe doors are fitted on the inside with upholestered , knife pleated silk panels which are seen reflected in the mirror.
